I'm going through the same thought process this year.

Where I lived before, I was lucky enough to be able to pull together a crew
from among friends and we grew to be a pretty good team. We relocated last
year and I started building a crew from scratch where we didn't know
anyone. We won two regattas last year with the old crew, who I imported
for the weekend, but the rest of the year was highly frustrating and very
stressful.

I'm considering not trying again this year - I have an offer to crew on
another boat, and my wife won't mind too much, but then I have to decide
whether it's worth keeping a boat at all with vastly reduced use (and an
endless maintenance list), or sailing my Laser off the beach and chartering
a couple of weeks in the summer.
