[David Roberts] Wow great feed back! I do know how to run the engine out of
the water. I normally just stick the inlet hose in a bucket that I am
running a flow regulated water hose into. I just keep the buck full, works
great. But that won't let me check the engine under load I think I agree
that a putting the boat in the water is the best test of the engine. Rick, I
did mean to say Survey not appraisal I use the terms in place of each other
and I know they have some difference but I am not sure what they are. There
have been some surveys of the boat and I never asked to see them I don't
know if they are available. I will ask on Monday. There are 1,000 hrs on the
engine. Joel Aronson; Rigging Survey is a really good Idea, thanks.
Jonathan; I am not sure what you mean by " escrow to cover as much as you
possibly can" We are taking a mortgage on a property we currently hold the
deed to, even though there are closing cost it is still way cheaper over the
life of the loan to go that way. So the lender is not concerned with what we
are doing with the money. Can I set up an escrow with a local bank? And no
Joel it is not the boat on Spinsheet. After you made that comment I look it
up and wow $24K for a 1981 40'. The Boat I am look at is owned by a dealer,
they took it in on trade. The good thing is that they are willing to take my
boat in on trade for this one. So we are negotiating a trading difference. I
went on NADA and they are placing the Suggested List Price at $134,000 then
the low retail at $49,200 and the high retail at $55,720. Dose that seem
right to anyone?
