On my Lenovo I was able to disable the secure boot in the UEFI and then
install Ubuntu as I normally would. I did a clean install of Windows 8 on
it's own SSD. GRUB has no problems with either OS.

I also stand by my criticism of the Ultrabook branding. Just for some
background, my direct PC hardware experience dates back to the 8086 and
286. I/we had computers before those (the Apple IIc was the most often
used). I am very much aware of Netbooks (which generally also used PC
parts btw), and I see the Ultrabook category as an iteration of that
concept. Better yes. Good not by any stretch of the imagination
especially when you compare them with. I have also owned several Netbooks
and an Ultrabook.

Glossy 1280x768 screens are a decade old at this point, and 4 GiB of RAM is
basically a single browser session. Most have pretty nasty keyboards
(though to be fair, so do most laptops).

The latest release from Intel ("Haswell") might be able to change my
opinion, but I will need to get my hands on one from someone other than
Apple.

Basically, I don't see the point. If you want something small and portable
for light computing duties, get an iPad or a Nexus 10, you are going to get
a vastly better screen.
