Ok, that makes sense: Cinelerra always assumes JPEG scaled YUV, while
divx have MPEG scaled YUV. The result is, that perfect black becomes
RGB 16 16 16 (or the 15 you got, with rounding error).
I didn't try it but it seems that the RGB601 filter is for correcting exactly
that error. Insert it as the first filter in the video track, where you
loaded the divx avi, and play with the filter settings (it can work forward
and reverse).
A more advanced app would of course handle this correctly, without the need for
a filter.
