Guys appreciate the comments from everyone..

I did get the 64bit GNS3 to run very on my quad-core i7 laptop with 8GB RAM..

It appears so far to run more smoother than the 32bit on Windows 7..

I was able to tweak it and have the entire IPExperts Dynamips map running with about 35-40% of the overall CPU(s) being used at the most. So far this is initial without any IP Routing or the dreaded multi cast.. ;-)

I setup separate hypervisors for each group of devices and in turn each of them had their own idle-pc.. So far so good..

Cheers

Joe

I'm using the GNS virtual box edition.

Windows also has per-process memory limits which cap you at 6-8
routers per hypervisor, requiring you to use multiple instances of
Dynamips hypervisors. Linux doesn't have that restriction so you can
run a single hypervisor.

I use the windows version for quick/small tests ( no more than 5 virtual
routers) when I don't want to fire up my linux box. Cpu usage is higher
compared to linux. You may also run into issues with dynamips crashing when
booting about 8 or more routers, even with a boot-sequence delay.

For heavy I'd recommend using linux.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Dynamips / GNS3 64 Bit

Hello Peoples

So on Windows 7 has anyone tried the 64Bit version of Dynamips/GNS3 that is
available as a stand-alone download?

If so, any good, bad or ugly?

Ta

Joe
