There is a Legacy_Winvnc Key which Regedit won't let me delete. Would
this matter?

Thanks,

Josh

Josh, I did a re-run on the install. Here's what I did, how, and so on.
Note
this is Win2K Server in Admin TS mode, and using TightVNC 1.2.3.

MATERIALS:
+Windows 2000 SP2 Server with Terminal Services in remote admin mode
+TightVNC 1.2.3

(1) Uninstalled VNC. Some registry settings are left over; I went
through and
did a search for all keys with exact name ORL and deleted them. I also
searched
for "winVNC" and removed registry references to it.

(2) Did a default install of TightVNC 1.2.3.

(3) After install was complete, I made one change. I went to Start |
Programs |
Administrative Tools and ran the applet "Install VNC Service".

(4) Opened a command prompt, and typed
net start winvnc

(5) I was given the "WinVNC Error" message about no password; I then
typed in a
password. and OK'd the box.

(6) Connected remotely - successfully.

(7) As a confirmation test, I did a reboot. After the system had
successuflly
booted - without logging on to the server console - I connected remotely
with no
problem.

(8) I disconnected, then logged the system in from the console. My next
logon
attempt from VNC succeeded.

(9) I ended the VNC connection, logged out of the console. Next I
established a
remote Terminal Services connection using the TS web client and logged
in.
While connected this way I started a VNC connection, which correctly
connected
me to the console desktop logon screen.
