I unnderrstand now.

Next I will add Audio ducking to the rotor in settings, rotor

No worries now, I just played a station and there was 20 percent of a reduction of background which I'm now happy about.

Thanks for a great job well done.

Cheers,

Tony

Do you have Ducking Amount in the rotor?

I turn the rotor to Ducking Amount, then flick up or down depending on if I want to increase or decrease the number.

If that is not working for you, perhaps you need to call Apple Accessibility and get them to share your screen so they can see what is happening, or not happening.

Richard,

possibly final one e from me on this thread.

I do what you suggest but can't see a way of changing the amount of reducing on my 13 Mini?

It's at 80 percent but hopefully that will suffice.

If you go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Audio, Audio
    Ducking is the second item.

First is VoiceOver Sounds and haptics.

IN there you can choose between the three states, off, always on,
    or while speaking.

If you put it on the rotor under Settings, Accessibility,
VoiceOver, Rotor, Rotor Items, you can adjust the settings on the
fly with the rotor instead of having to go into settings every time.

Yes I did go to settings and I couldn't find audio-ducking but as
you tell me it's in accessibility.

A good tip is the search tool for sure.

I like teachable moments. When you are looking for a setting,
you can go to the settings app and in the top left, is a
search field. In this case I typed:

        Audio Ducking

And the result was, Accessibility → VoiceOver → Audio

Then, go to VoiceOver settings, Rotor, Rotor Items and select
the ones for audio ducking and ducking amount.

The percentage of the Ducking Amount is a good suggestion
            in my case.

            Where do we find audio-ducking?

Interesting that you can put it on the rotor.

                It is called Audio Ducking.

There are now two parts to audio ducking.

                1. Audio ducking on always, or while VO is speaking,
                or off.

                2. The percentage of the Ducking Amount. 1% would be
virtually no ducking of the media, 99% would be almost
total ducking of the media sounds, music, book, etc.

Those are items in the rotor that you can select so
you can adjust them as needed.

                    Something like as in NVDA
