I don't think there is any chance of Stewart going to NBC, and only a slight chance of him going to CBS (and then only if Dave makes some major request). I thought we had read here that Ferguson got some kind of convenant in his most recent contract that he had first dibs on replacing Dave, but I may have mucked that up in my memory. I had a brief fling with Ferguson that lasted about 4 months a year or two back, and have not kept up much with him since.
I also think some of the comments on this thread are putting too much emphasis on the young demo. Yes, the networks want a host that attracts young viewers, but no, I don't think they want someone who is too hip for 40 - 65ers in the middle of the country that still make up the bulk of that audience. I don't think there are enough College kids and young 20s watching TV at 11:35 to build a show focused almost exclusively on them. Kimmel, and probably Fallon, attract the kind of audience the network is looking for - enough 20s and 30s to give an aroma of being hip, but not so edgy or offbeat to scare away the meat and potatoes. If Ferguson is not on deck for Dave, then I would expect it to be either Conan or a well known comic in his mid 30s to 40s. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
