Just because we (and I put myself in that "we", being one of the very first
instigators of Jakarta since october 98 - in the Jakarta room at Sun), made
that mistake.

That's why the new Servlet Engine is called "Catalina", part of Tomcat 4.0.

Nobody decided to throw it away, but we decided that Servlet 2.3 were going
with Tomcat 4.0, and that's what we're going to stick with...

If you want to go on and make a 3.3, do it, but if you want to implement
Servlet 2.3 in that release, you'll get my -1...
