I think it is that good. Almost all the projects I am interested in doing
requires a 3.3-like design ( and working on a servlet container is not the
end goal, there are many intersting things you can build if you have the
right tools ).
Before working on tomcat3 I spent a lot of time with various servlet
containers, and I found all that I wanted ( it's true, with a lot of
garbage around , but the core design and the patterns are what matters,
not the dirty code around ).

I have problems with both the design of 4.0 and the way it operates. The
4.0 code is too complex for me anyway, I have been there with tomcat3.0
before, I will not go back.

"Ownership" ? Well, the design belongs to someone else, the original
implementation and most of the cool features are done by other - I just
tried to simplify it and clean up.
No, it has nothing to do with ownership. ( maybe a little with fairness )
