Dear all,
There are three problems now, allow me to identify them.
First, I didn't record my old Sim ID anywhere on my hard drive and my
invoice has no detail of it. There is only an activation code, and I think
that the Sim ID cannot be changed, because it refers to the physical sim.
How come it can be changed after the operator tried to upgrade it over the
air.
Second, if I'm happy to pay or transfer from one sim to the new, how can I
do that simply I didn't have the old Sim ID for referral during the online
process. What I have only electronic version of invoice and activation code
that appeared in the automatic mail respond.
Third, if I bring my sim to the shop, they will be very happy to replace it
by the new one. But I don't think they have to issue any statement for any
purpose to explain that the existing sim is not in an usable condition, so
we have to issue the new one (in fact, it can be used, but the sim ID has
already been changed some way).
I used Talks maybe the first handset is Nokia 6681 and upgrade it along the
way, for example, buying the vocalizer and transfer from emie-based to the
sim one. It doesn't make sense for me to buy the new license at the full
price, and they should understand that it's not my fault. My local operator
is the one who automatically upgraded it for all customer over the air
within this month. Talknav may feels surprise from what I explain, but it's
the truth indeed.
I wonder Talks didn't release any newer version for a long while, and the
trend of Nokia mobile is moving towards Windows mobile. What will be happen
next for us who have symbian phone.
Sincerely,
Eakachai

Lol, do this simply. Go to the shop, report your sim card having problem,
faulty. report to them and ask them to change your sim. at the same time,
ask for a letter from your provider to prove to Nuance that there is a
reason for changing it, cause your card was faulty. This should go through
as faulty cards and getting a new one is not transferring license. Just in
case, keep the old sim as a proof to show/send to Nuance if need too.
In saying above, I am not even sure if Nuance still exist or bother to
entertain us anymore.
So, I think so only disadvantage u get by using your old sim card is you
have no 3g access.

Doesn't matter! If you get a new Sim! You need to buy a transfer license
from the old Sim to the new Sim. Restoring the OLD license will not work on
the new Sim. The Sim ID number will be different.
Like Brad has stated! If you cell provider is wanting you to get a new sim
and your old one is still working! I would ignore what the cell provider is
wanting you to do being it isn't neccessary. 3G is built on top of GSM so
your old phones will still work.

our friend worry is just one of a few reason why we need to change the sim
card. e.g, faulty sim card could be another one, etc
and the solution needed is on the changed if happen due to whatever
reason,
on the license, is not whether need to change the sim card or not, which
is
just a temporary solution..
a bigger question mark is, Where & how to get back the license on a new
sim
card?
even to restore the license over the phone, the nuance talks server is now
not responding at all. i tried many times , but still failed. now i am
doing
it manually, where before i use to use the restore license method over the
phone.
just my opinion. a better solution is much needed.
With warmest regards..

I wouldn't worry about getting a new sim card. The one you have should be
fine. The 3G signal is built on top of the GSM signal so is basically
sent
out with the GSM signal. So in other words no need to change sim cards.

Subject: [Talks] Requesting for the replacement of my simcard
Dear lister,
I have Nokia C5 and have been held a Sim-based license of Nuance Talks
more
than six years. I got a terrible problem at the moment and would like to
hear some feedbacks from other talks’ experience users.
AIS which is a known mobile operator in Thailand, will launch the 3G
service on the international standard 2.1-gigahertz frequency to serve
their
customer during this month. Please refer the folowing URL for more
detail,
they were drawn out from two local newspapers in Thailand:
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/348897/thailand-3g-era-officially-starts
and
http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/AIS-soft-launches-3G-2-1GHz-service-aims-for-20000-30203756.html
They request existing customers who had used their old simcard to get a
new
one for free at their shop now onward. I tried to negotiate with my local
operator like their call agent and shop staff, and inform them that I
cannot
change my simcard with some reasons; however, they don’t think I can use
my
old simcard any longer after the official launch of 3G service during
these
couple of month. What should I do if my Talk license bases on this
simcard
that needs to be replaced very shortly.
I tried to contact my distributor who I bought the product from their
site,
and forwarded them the payment confirmation statement in the past for
their
reference. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear anything from them for five days
up
to now. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Eakachai
