Ah... but there is a problem with the agreement to change the information in
the email - basically that it has already been done, but some sysadmins are
either stuck with the old version (software reliability testing procedures
at some companies force sysadmins to stick with older programs that have
been "tested" as opposed to updating a program such as spamassassin - which
is why I consider it necessary to write (potentially) 3.0 in such a way as
it will update it's rulelist from a mirror/website when necessary), and also
some sysadmins just install something and don't bother looking at it again
until it breaks.

Basically, even when I installed spamassassin 2.20 on debian (stable
release - using apt-get), I was directed to the correct user information
page on spamassassin.org, so either people are not actually reading the
header information, or else the sys admins for the site are running an
extremely outdated version...

I just checked a spam message from 2.55 and this is what it says inside :-
See http://spamassassin.org/tag/ for more details.
And that connects me to the Spamassassin Information for End-Users page....

As to "All the active members of this list should apologize to every idiot
who makes this kind of complaint in the wrong place."... well I don't have
the time to respond to those emails - I have too many other tasks to
complete - like writing a webpage that is system-wide but only accesses a
particular user's information for their spamassassin preferences... Or
modifying the system backup procedures to actually be more functional, or
keep the system here running smoothly, or many other things that a SysAdmin
must do to keep their jobs, in this case I have a few minutes to respond to
emails - I make sure I spend at least a half hour a day checking lists and
responding to things. Oh, and also - most people on a mailing list don't
have time nor the interest to respond to everyone who can't be bothered to
read the obvious documentation - such as the above listed website, which is
in the message tag...

Regards,
    Cassandra

have seen this thread and dozens and dozens of others like it, everytime
this happens someone suggests changing the message, someone else suggests
both changing the message and website, everyone else agrees, nothing
changes.
