Re: CS>Re: $$$ perpectives

  Hi Bob,

I found the Hach web site and looked at their current
  spectrophotometers:

    http://www.hach.com/Spec/S4000tbl.htm

  I have some questions.

  A. The procedure for silver is shown in

http://ecommerce.hach.com/stores/hach/pdfs/dr4000cd/eng_pdf/Silver_PP_Other_CLR_Eng_4000.pdf

They make no distinction between silver atoms and silver particles.

How does the calibration change as the silver content changes from
  individual atoms to particles?

  B. The procedure is calibrated for neutral silver.

What happens when the silver is ionized, as in colloidal silver? How
do you get a calibration for colloidal silver?

  C. The procedures seem fairly complicated, with plenty of room for
error. Do you have a standard solution you use for verification?

  D. The range for silver on both models is 0 to 0.700 mg/L

    http://www.hach.com/Spec/S4000tbl.htm

Does this mean it can measure from 0 to 0.7 ppm? If so, then 12 ppm
or more is outside the range.

How do you know the readings are reliable at these concentrations?

Best Regards,

Mike Monett
