what happens to me sometimes, is that the password window is hidden behind
the xterm from which I called ./vncviewer. This can look like "nothing
happens".

I would respectfully like to ask all people to read the FAQ and the

Hello Jean-Marie!
Your explaination, in my opinion, is excelent. Nothing speaks
more clearly than experience. The documentation

is actually very clear. But, as you wrote, may not be so clear to
someone who is not familiar with the workings of X on Un

Wie meinst Du das?
Do you mean the menus on the viewer?
VNC has yet to be subjected to internationalization.
What OS's do you use? F|r welche Betriebsysteme?
On X you can edit .Xdefaults. A list of the widget hierarchy is at the bottom

Well, it does not work although I get validated by ssh and get a prompt.
I sent to the list the verbose listing on what happens when I try to login.
SSH is saying the port is forwarded. When I try to use it, there is always the
mention why it failed ("reason: bla bla" bit) but no one seem to kn
Hi all
Though I am a newcomer I know that some suggestions have already been
done on how to reduce amount of messages on the list i.e. create
different lists concerning differents aspects of VNC.
Maybe I have a small simple suggestion concerning the way we handle
technical questions :

If there is agreement on this, there would have to be an ettiquette file next
to the FAQ file file
to inform newcomers of the local customs (I deliberately avoided the words
laws and rules!).
The suse linux mailing lists do this, at here in Germany and I was only
actuall in the isdn list.
P.S.
never had this behavior.
Which sc.exe are you using ?

This is a good idea, but it is very inconve
Just a suggestion - answering only the person who raised the question keeps
others who may well have the same problem now or in the near future from
seeing the answer. That ends up making more work for the more knowledgeable
and helpful members of the list. I hope you won't choose the private
Will someone please compile a version of the winvnc server that does not
turn off numlock and capslock upon connecting?
Thank you,

Yes, I've been aware recently that there is a lot of 'discussion' going
through the list which might be better off split into different 'segments'
somehow.

I've had good results running vnc on various unix hosts at work and
displaying on windows NT. My results on my home LAN (linux server,
win98 client) have been much less good. At times the screen becomes
very unresponsive. A common symptom is that I "lose the mouse". When I
move the mouse, a sma
