This is my favorite thing about open source software.. It didn't take 23
requisition forms and a year of complaints - someone sees something that needs
to be done and just DOES IT.
vnc opens the port it get from inet (or xinet) for its RFB
communication (communication to vncviewer), It looks for a free port in the
X11 range (6000 and up) to start the X11 services at this display.

The java client must be served from the same machine as the vncserver.
Therefor, the vncserver has a build in webserver. Best to use this one. READ
the documentation for details.
BTW: the vnc webserver is at port 5800 + display number: for winvnc 5800,
for `Xvnc :3` it is at 5803.

Everything seems to be working, but I still cannot connect to the machine.
Any help will be much appreciated.

led (some minutes ago) the HP-UX distribution has no java applet
included. Get it from an other distro, point the Xvnc option to it and of
you go.

On what platform?
I can tell you about the general Win32 details.
When you install the WinVNC server, it automatically runs the mini-server
for the Java applet. To use it, just direct a Java-capable browser to the
correct port on the VNC server - which is -
