Hi there,
I have an interesting BSOD. Running the latest stable TightVNC server
(1.2.1) on two of my test boxes (Win2K Professional SP2, MagicGraph
256AV video card), I was able to reliably replicate a Win32K.sys BSOD on
WinXP running on a Dell C600 (ATI Rage M3 chipset) and on a friend's

Sorry to be the one to say this, but it has to be said. You come across

shouting and triple exclaimation marks after every sentence are quite
annoying. Your atrocious grammar
does not help either. Please remember that you did not pay for VNC and

I have always thought it would be good to turn VNC into an extensible
protocol. You would run the vnc
server which would listen for incoming connections, then load various
server modules for the various
devices on your system. The client would connect and say, "What modules
do you have?" The serve

Hello All,
I am sorry to be reposting a question that has been recently asked, but I
remember a thread about opening up more than 100 viewers and cannot seem to
remember the information that was posted on it.
I will be having MANY connections to our server and thought that maybe I could

Hi folks, I have been using VNC for roughly four years, and have not had
any problems with the product until this afternoon, I have been unable
to connect to any outside server.
I am running the 3.3.3 VNCviewer on a Dell dual-P3 933Mhz system with
W2K and with Ethereal running on this system,
I all the machines are on 10mbit or higher connections, then it really
does not matter. However if some of the machines are on WAN connections
then TightVNC would be the way to go.
Either way, I would work out how to upgrade VNC after deployment. This
is the hardest problem I have had with ma
depends on what you want.
TridaVNC is apparenlty the bestest, but i can't figure out how to get rid of
the wallpaper when using VNC.
ATT is original and wallpaper does work.
Tight apparenlty is much less bandwidth so if youre going over modem/slow
links then have a play...

Hey all,
I have almost got this VNC installing over a network right. The only thing
is that when you run the batch file it comes up with a window message
saying:
'VNC has been successfully installed, blah blah blah'
Is there anyway of making it so this does not appear?
Thanks

I'm preparing to deploy VNC on my company network of approx 350 WinNT/2000
machines. Which is the best distribution to use?
Thanks!

I have the same Nividia setup on with both machines (@1280x1024) with no
problem with TightVNC, I am no expert but I would tend to suspect that the
remote graphics setup is more likely the culprit (assuming poor picture
quality), though you did not say what that is.
I have re-read your post
Hi everyone!
Can anyone tell me where the files are installed for VNC? I want to do a
manual installation (not use setup.exe) but it won't work unless I know
where all of the files are placed (and reg keys)...
Thanks!

Could anyone attach zlib patch for latest tar ball or provide me url for it?

Well, in the environment I described (Windows viewer, Linux host) the VNC
server includes the functionality of an X server. I think the X server must
specifically support double-byte character sets
VNC Graphics on remote computer in browser NOT GOOD!!! I running Windows Me on host

Yes I think it can.
I use a Unix Tru64 and in the vncserver script there is a part where you can
specify the font database.
I specified for Thai fonts.

In a Windows viewer, Linux server environment, does VNC support DBCS?
Maybe the question is: Does the X Server built into Linux VNC server support
DBCS?

Complete untested speculation on my part:
If you are using VNC + encrypted tunnelling program (SSH or Zebedee come to
mind) you may be able to also map tcp/udp ports 135 - 139 (ports used for
RPC and netbios on Windows) on the remote machine (assuming the remote
machine is running Windows). Thus
why, when I connect to a winME computer running winVnc, is the screen black,
even though I can move around?

I use exits95 to restart a workstation daily at a set time. About 25% of the
time, the shutdown process hangs and the error reads: WinVNC Tray Icon. Is
there a fix for this?

Hello All,
This is a question that I too have been very interested in for some time now and
was wondering if any of the VNC experts out there might want to speculate on
what would be required in order to implement the printer and drive mappings
routines?
Cheers,

you can't at the moment. VNC gives you the DISPLAY of the remote machine,
and in Windows offers limited clipboard-sharing capabilities, but not remote
printer or drive mappings.
