Complete untested speculation on my part: If you are using VNC + encrypted tunnelling program (SSH or Zebedee come to mind) you may be able to also map tcp/udp ports 135 - 139 (ports used for RPC and netbios on Windows) on the remote machine (assuming the remote machine is running Windows). Thus, in theory it may be possible to map over from the remote machine to the local machine (ie, from a command prompt "net use \\localhost\sharename" on the remote machine while your tunnel session is up).
To add this functionality to the server code itself is beyond my present programming abilities....
