Hi folks, I have been using VNC for roughly four years, and have not had
any problems with the product until this afternoon, I have been unable
to connect to any outside server.

I am running the 3.3.3 VNCviewer on a Dell dual-P3 933Mhz system with
W2K and with Ethereal running on this system, and tcpdump running on
another Linux system on the same network, when I attempt to connect to a
remote VNC server, I immediately see the error:
"VNC Info - ! Failed to connect to server"
and no TCP traffic was generated. It is as if the viewer is failing to
even access the IP stack.

I have deinstalled and re-installed 3.3.3 from a fresh download and that
didn't resolve the problem and from the W2K system, I can telnet into
the remote sites 5900 port and gain access to the server, so all is well
with the remote connectivity. Somehow, something has busted with VNC
and the only thing that has changed was the recent installation of
Netscape 6.2. Are there common DLL's used where NS may have rudely
busted VNC?

I'm in a serious bind with the holidays looming and would appreciate any
thoughts or recommended solutions.

Regards,

Barry
