I all the machines are on 10mbit or higher connections, then it really does not matter. However if some of the machines are on WAN connections then TightVNC would be the way to go.
Either way, I would work out how to upgrade VNC after deployment. This is the hardest problem I have had with maintaining a large installed base of VNC machines.
