About BIOS : I also checked inside : it is very simple, not a lot of options,

Here it is quite broken: the problem is that the tx-power output before
was 27dB, and now it's 18... and my dd-wrt flashed router reports lower
signal. Using iwconfig to set the txpower won't let me go above 18dB.

I have precisely the same issue in Hardy, to be explicit:
Samba server running on Gutsy, group read-only permissions on a share,
but write permissions for owner.
Using Gutsy/WinXP/Vista I can login and authenticate as a user and write.
Using Hardy I can't, it's like it always logs in as guest, ev

I am not sure if this is really a problem with Totem as VLC and even

I use compiz normally, but the problem is also there when _not_ using compiz or
any fancy stuff.
As said it is a IBM Thinkpad T42, so the specs are:
64MB RADEON 9600,

I just installed E17 and the video seems to be oke here. No missing
frames and all like I would expect it (and as it shows in MsWindowsXP).
Maybe this info helps a bit. I will verify it again when I am home (I
should not watch movies at work).

What I do not understand is how this influences the behaviour of gparted. I
want my stuff to automount when I insert or hotplug it, but not when it is
already plugged in and I open gparted (or gparted does something)...

Hi there, today I did a clean install of Ubuntu Feisty from a newly downloaded
cd. At this moment the Num-Lock problem seems fixed here. I will let you know
if the problem returns!

Oke, the problem returned. Now the led stays off and Num-Lock does not work at
all (when working on the laptop keyboard). I did not test an external keyboard.
Anyway, it seems that the problem is still there. This week I will try the
Gutsy live cd to see how it works there.

Hmm, after a fresh install with a new Feisty cd all video also looks
normal under Gnome. I think I must have been working with screwed up
settings. I think you can close this bug without further action. If I
experience the problem again and I know what happened that caused it. I
will file a new bug

The bug is still there.. My machine is a Toshiba L10 with a Celeron M
processor. Just say what you need to know (dmesg and so) and i'll post
it here. We need this to be fixed
My current workthrough is ctrl+alt
Toshiba Satellite L10 Celeron M 1,5Ghz, intel 852gm, same problems with
both -13 and -14. Vanilla 2.6.20.6 kernel works fine. Can I do
something? I've read some workarounds, but maybe you need some other
info now..
