Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkgmail

Hi there!

checkgmail has a very annoying bug... the locales! In english all is
fine, however nor spanish, catalan, french or germany work well. à,ö,ñ
and such don't display well, and strange symbols appear. Also, if
someone sends a message with one of those, the preview will show strange
symbols. This has been around in feisty too... Also, and more annoying
even, if you set checkgmail in one of the mentioned languages, when you
close it, it won't open anymore. In terminal, these errors appear:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ checkgmail
Warning: Gtk2::Sexy not found ...

CheckGmail uses Gtk2::Sexy for clickable URLs in mail messages
Please download and install from CPAN (http://search.cpan.org) if you want to
use this feature ...

Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at /usr/bin/checkgmail line
4714.
A thread exited while 2 threads were running.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

The gtk2::sexy error and the cpan waring appear always, even in english,
but you can still open checkgmail, and it works fine. The HASH error
appears when changing languages and prevents checkgmail from opening.

thanx
