I've spent a day trying to figure out why my VMs were not working until
I found this report.
TLDR: Windows Sandbox in itself does not break the virtualization for
Virtualbox, what does is the Virtual Machine Platform (on which I guess
Windows Sandbox depends on).

My mistake, I took another look at the Xorg log after upgrading to the
testing packages, and noticed a line saying it can't enable DRI for a
framebuffer larger than 2048 pixels in either dimension. I had set a
virtual size in xorg.conf for an extended desktop and had forgotten
about it.

I can reproduce the problem 100% of time if I open a site that has some
client-side dynamic content, in for example http://www.engadget.com/ 's
case, there's the rolling news box with big images on the top right. If
I have that on-screen in Opera or Firefox and initiate Expose, the
screen flickers
Right now if I rotate the screen for example right, I get a picture on
my notebook's display that is 768 pixels wide (height of the rotated
screen), and 1280 tall (width of the rotated screen). This, because of
the display's native resolution, causes the rotated screen's width to be
cut off at 768

Happened to me as well, after upgrading to Ubuntu Hardy Beta from Ubuntu
Gutsy. This can cause some frustration since plugins that are not
selected in the "Normal" or "Extra" modes have to be re-enabled in CCSM
everytime Compiz dies and falls back to Metacity.

notebook with an Intel GMA-950 graphics controller (945GM motherboard
chipset).
I've found that the black flashes and flickers appear in two cases reliably:
1)
A bit of correction that might be important: when switching desktops,
only the FOCUSED window flashes black, and then the desktop, both once.
With Expose activated, desktops and windows flash randomly, BUT not
windows that have been resized with the Shelf plug-in. Odd.

changing the "Refresh rate" option in compizconfig-settings-manager, I
can reduce the flickers to zero once I reach 23. (default being 60) 24

Yes, it does. In fact, I haven't been able to launch Liferea ONCE ever
since upgrading to Hardy. I have not tried a clean Hardy install or the
live CD. Would that help?

Quite a confusing option though, I must say. It being grouped with the
"Run custom command instead of the shell" option, I thought the shell
itself was not considered a command in the context. That and the Leave
Open option resulting in basically a useless tab is not too intui
