I've been using Compiz on R500 on a daily basis now for a few weeks,
always using the most recent radeon driver form Tormod Volden's PPA. So
far, I have not experienced the described crashes anymore with those
more recent drivers.

a forced way (or if it crashes, as it was in my case), the sound is not
muted after a reboot. It looks like something mutes the channels upon
shutdown, and then re-mutes them upon login. That's why the master

I can confirm that after booting, but before logging in, my master
channel is *not* yet muted, as it should be. So it's something in the

works. The configuration file in /etc/fonts/conf.avail is there as it

I tried twice to upload a big error report using apport, but both times
I got an error "HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway" just before the upload

Logitech (model "Quickcam Deluxe for Notebooks"). It uses the UVC
driver. It works fine in Ekiga and other apps not accessing it over

that was my first guess because it always happens when i close a
program. Today though, it happened when I closed a program from the tray
icon while the program was minimized to tray - there was no visible
window being closed.

I have a similar problem with OpenOffice versions 2.4 and 3.0. For me,
it's the font "Calibri" by Microsoft (The default font of newer Office
versions) which is acting up: the letter ö doesnt print. ä,ü,Ö,Ä,Ü all
print. I think the bug is in OpenOffice, because other applications (I
tested gedit a
3.1.0 (a beta) is out, with plans to release 3.2.0 (stable) along with
Gnome 2.26. Packaging 3.1 early might simplify getting 3.2 into Jaunty
along with the rest of Gnome 2.26.
Furthermore, the Codec selection in the current package in Jaunty is
rather limited - especially lacking are h263 and h26

I reinstalled my system anew because I feared some old cruft might cause
this problem. That's not the case, the new installation behaves the same
way.
In the kernel log I cannot find anything particularly useful:
[drm] radeon default to kernel modesetting DISABLED.

Right after booting, if I try to send a file to my mobile phone, that
will fail. If I de- and then reenable bluetooth using the functionality
in the applet, it works.

It turns out that if I use the kernel from the PPA which has KMS enabled
by default, my system boots fine with KMS. If I use the default kernel
which has KMS disabled by default, and change the boot manager
accordingly, it won't work and I get the messages above.

X1400. After waking up the system shows colorful vertical bars on

The gconf key in question is
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method
It is set to "2" when i use the GUI to enable two-finger scrolling.
After a reboot, it is reset to 0.
