3.1.0 (a beta) is out, with plans to release 3.2.0 (stable) along with Gnome 2.26. Packaging 3.1 early might simplify getting 3.2 into Jaunty along with the rest of Gnome 2.26.
Furthermore, the Codec selection in the current package in Jaunty is rather limited - especially lacking are h263 and h264 from the video codecs.
