If one manually switches the acceleration method to EXA, XVideo works even with AIGLX enabled. Add the following line to your xorg.conf:
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" I'm using a slightly newer driver from Tormod Volden's PPA, but I guess the one Intrepid ships should work as well.
