As far as I can tell from a quick test, this seems to work. I think.
The resulting desktop is--sparse, with only an open terminal, no
xubuntu-desktop or anything. Not what I expected or hoped for, but
perhaps WAD?

The xulrunnerpatch didn't fix the bug for me. I had to disable the offscreen
pixmaps to get rid of the bug.

My hardware is an IBM Thinkpad R60. Ubuntu 7.10 and Sound Juicer 2.20.1

What is funny in this, i tried another CD now, and now I have lost the

I would still tend to agree with your earlier analysis: the fact that it
doesn't do what it's supposed to do is this bug, and the fact that it
would be nice to be able to turn it off is a separate bug.

/etc/resolv.conf file unwritable by doing "chattr +i
/etc/resolv.conf". (I did this to avoid an unrelated problem: my DHCP

bogus DNS server ... it's a long story ...)
With today updates the problem seems fixed.no more crashes (at least on

the login the Scre3en remains white, but i still can flipp the cube; no

Running Hardy dist-upgraded almost daily. Suspend working for months, but after
upgrade to 2.6.24-14 resume from suspend stopped working. Machine spins up
fans and sound like it is starting up, but the screen
remains blank and only a hard reset saves it.

Absolutely still an issue in my system upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy (and
tracker 0.6.6). I have no large directory of source that I'm aware of
it indexing, but system IOwait spikes and renders the accessing program
unusable and unresponsive on almost any disk access, for 10 seconds to

Rolf, I updated the not-so-on-the-edge-any-longer Gutsy driver on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XorgOnTheEdge. I haven't seen any relevant
changes, but it can be nice to tell upstream that you have tried "latest
git" anyway. Although I recommend testing out Hardy which has newer
kernel and xorg.
