The hack works for me too. I can't see flicker at all (Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome
classic session).
Finally, 2 year later I can use the cube again.

Following the procedure in this forum post, seems to solve the issue.
At least for me it does the trick. Del key works as expected (sending
file to trashcan) when a file is selected, but in rename mode it deletes
the text and not the file.

Right click on a file, select Rename...
Click somewhere in the file folder name to edit.

classic session (not unity).
The affected menus are the right click ones (left click menus are ok) on
every panel applet and indicators (both top and bottom panel, including
trashcan, workspace selector and show desktop.

Well, then don't call it a fix, call it workaround or whatevever. The
fact is that for the common people it solves the issue. Maybe it's not
the right way, but unfortunately is the closest thing to a solution,
people are going to get most of the times in situations like this.

Maybe I'm missing something, but desktop automounting does work fine for
the ebook. At least the PRS-300 is mounted as a massive storage volume.
The issue here is not that they are not mounted. The issue is they don't
appear in the calibre UI.
I'm not comfortable with marking this as "Won't Fix".
Any plans to fix the Calibre version on the official repository for Lucid?
Being this a LTS, it would be great to fix this broken package. It should be
easy now that it's clear what the problem is, after seeing the Fabrice's ppa
version works fine.

It's true that the home icon is no more in the Navigation Toolbar.
It's however in the bookmarks toolbar.
What confused me is that when you do Right Click/Customize... in the Navigation
toolbar, you don't have the home button
