I have a Fujitsu Amilo Pi 1536, Core Duo, ATI x1400, resolution 1280x800 Ubuntu 7.04 (final) Desktop CD x86
I have this bug. More precisely, this one (as It seems to be 2 similar bugs around): "No valid modes left. Trying less strict filter... Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting" The horizontal and vertical refresh workaround doesn't work for me, and simply reconfiguring xserver-xorg doesn't work either. I have found a workaround. Hope it helps somebody. (See this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/103945/comments/1) I got to start X with a resolution of 640x480, by deleting all the other modes in xorg.conf (or by "sudo dpkg-reconfe xserver-xorg", and choosing only the 640x480 mode). With this, I reached the live CD desktop and I managed to complete the installation. After that (and with wifi internet working), I installed the propietary fglrx, and choose the 1280x800 native resolution). -- [regression] 7.2 broke vesa: "No matching modes found" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
