I tried the 32bit drivers on my 64bit 9.10 ubuntu and recently I
upgraded to 10.04 (64bit). I had hoped that maybe with the 32bit
compatibility libraries this could work, but I keep getting errors when
printing.
I really hope this driver gets included in the default stack of ubuntu
packages for bo
I just remembered that a while back I tried a custom DSTD for another problem
with this laptop. I wonder if this could point in the direction to look into.
(I am not using a customer DSTD anymore, and as far as I understood custom
DSTDs are not supported anymore out of the box in newer kernels).
Just for everyone's info, this bug is still around in 10.04 with updates
up until 2010-05-03.

Hi Pepe,

I had the same issue after upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 standard Ubuntu.
For me there are two important issues/questions with this bug:

I have found a work around which I use now:
If I switch of the Wifi card with the switch on the laptop (physical
switch) and then unplug the powercord and then switch on the wifi card
again, everything works fine! Whether the powercord is inserted or
not when switching the Wifi card on again.
Like what aardvark told, I too have the same situation.
At boot time I get the error, but if I later start the service manually
(/etc/init.d/postgresql-8.3 start) the postgres db starts without
errors.
For me it seems that when the postgres service is started at boot time,

Sorry for the late reply, it took me some while to be able to test it.
The Jaunty Alpha4 live cd also results in the same problem for me. What I do is:
1. Insert the live cd

3. Start Jaunty live
4. Go to 'Hardware drivers'
5. Enable b43
6. Make connection to a WAP

Dear all,
After two weeks of struggling, yesterday, while driving back home, I suddenly

So, this is no bug, but a user fault.

I have looked at a lot of other network issues with KVM but the most
close bug report I found mentioned server load as a trigger but for me
the problem is 100% repeatable without server loads going to 100%. Here
is my case:
I have a Dell 2950 server with two virtual machines.
I do not want to mix bugs here, but I think I have an issue which might
be related to this one because of the powerplug in/out trick which also
makes the boot continue. Apparently something is triggered by this
action.
What I now found out is that if my laptop is running I can connect to

I now have been working with ibex for a while and the strange thing is
that most of the time this bug is not bothering me anymore. And I mean I
do --not-- use any kernel parameters (I have heard of all kinds of side
effects, so if my system requires the keypress, I just keep the shift
key pressed).
I also upgraded from 8.04 and after that I also had issues with the
nvidia driver until this week when I finally found out what helped.
When looking in the package manager I found that even though I had
selected to use the nvidia 177 driver, the package was not installed.
