Slayer, Thanks for the howto, I managed to compile everything, however, because I have an nvidia graphics chip I have problems using my own build kernel because of the binary nvidia drivers which are not available for that custom kernel (at least I do not know how). But again, the compilation did indeed work.
Steve, Thanks for the info. I always have the proposed archive active. I did not know the process though of kernel updates through proposed to normal updates. For your information the new 2.6.24.19 kernel does indeed work and my wireless is now working again.
