I have done a lot of reboots now to see if I can find what configuration
triggers the problem but up until now without any success. I have had a couple
of boots in a row which succeeded without a problem and suddenly without
changing anything the problem occured again.
All boots were done without the quiet and splash options.

One boot I took the time to wait for every keypress and see what this resulted
in in the log files.
See attached messages file, I have put ************** characters where you can
see that the timing jumped (i.e. I waited to press a key at that exact moment).

However, after another boot I noticed that the stops were not on the
always at the same location, though one location is 100% (up until now
at least) constant and that is the USB initialisations with the lines:

hub 1-0:1.0: 10 ports detected

Sometimes it is the 2-0 hub, but it always stops after that location.

Hope that helps
