I zsync'd the latest Xubuntu kinetic; repeated the instructions as per
this bug report and no issue with Xubuntu either..
so not Ubuntu Budgie (#5) & not Xubuntu

Booted today's hirsute daily (live QA-test) on
- dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
