I can glean info from the included examples, but would love to
see something that really delves into them.
Thanks,

Yes, it definitely added the stars, as does running the
regular "spamassassin" executable. I'll check into the CVS version, but
I'm not sure I' comfortable with 'beta' code.
Oh well...
thanks anyway,

I know this sounds like a stupid newbie work around, but I
thought I would throw it out there and see who tells me "now Dave, this can't be
done because" ;-)
I found the .sh file that is used to start/stop/status the
spamd. I now have a cron job that monitors for the spamd process to d
en DCC checking is turned on by
some users. It could be that when DCC times out, spamd dies and spamc just
passes through the message. I think I saw a bugzilla ticket about it. I'll
take a look and see if I can figure it out. C Dave Strickler

However, I am running SA with the spamd deamon and the Milter.
So, running this from the root account isn't a good test. Anyway for me to see a
"-D" with the spamd ? Same option on the command line with the
deamon?
TIA

Actually, we aren't using any user_pref files - just the
system local.cf mentioned below. Can the spam_level_stars be put into that
local.cf file? If not, is there a system-wide file that it needs to go
into?
Thanks for the tips,

Perhaps I don't understand the precedent of the setup files.
If the only file I altered from the distribution was
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf , wouldn't that take precedent over other
default files?
It certainly worked for changing other params in
SA...

We are running a few thousand emails through SA each day,
and find 1-5 per day are being 'skipped'. While they run though the SendMail
box, SA doesn't touch the headers.
Before I go digging through the logs, etc, has anyone seen
this before?
Thanks,

locked. No luck...

I am having this same (I think) problem. 99% of emails get
scanned, but a few don't each day. No explanation in the header of the email. I
can see it passed through the machine running SendMail that SA runs on, but
nothing in the headers about being 'touched' by SA.
While I don't have a sol
I think you'll find if you check out the "White-List" feature,
you can enabled anything sent from your domain to be skipped by SA,
regardless of content. Can't remember the directory at the moment, but look in
the docs for something list White List.

I'm currently running SA and am *very* happy with it. In case
anyone is interested, I'm running the daemons and they are performing

I have moved the SA reports into the header of the email and
into terse mode. While this works great, I am getting an extra line in the

Anyone have an idea as to why this is

Looks like SendMail uses Milter(s) to hook in...
Looks like ProcMail has easy hooks...
Anyone have a preference for ease of use / clean install / less headaches?
The box it will run on will be dedicated to SA and nothing else.

I would like to use RH's SendMail with SA. While I have SA up
and working, I don't understand the steps to get it hooked into SendMail. Since
I have never installed a Milter, the help on SA's site is over my
head.
Any URLs I should check out?
Thanks,
