the Alex DH 19s scavenged from the Monocog. They have a roundish profile and

older (or possibly newer) and inferior model?

I used up a pair of IRC Tandems that I got slightly used and super cheap.
My thoughts: they are a fair amount narrower than the marked 30mm width,
they have a weird triangular profile and I don't think there's anything
better about them than Paselas. I didn't notice a difference in flat

How do these tires compare to the Marathon Supremes? Has anybody compared
them?
I have the Marathon Supremes in 700x35 on the Homer and wouldn't mind
getting together with others in the SF Bay Area to do our own tire
comparison to set up a good baseline. Have ordered the 700x50 (29x2.0)
Marathon S
Heavier and stiffer than my standards call for. No better than the IRC
tandems and not as flat proof.

They're pricey, but not end of the world pricey:

I'd recommend giving them a try. They feel great!

It actually depends on how badly i want to spend my hard earned money and
the kinds of rationalizations I can dream up to justify this. It also
depends on my spending threshold for "riding experience" -- it's more fun to
ride fast, supple tires than heavy, stiff tires. I haven't filled in the

For the last three years, I've been using 700x32 (non-Tourguard)
Pasela's for "unimportant" centuries and brevets, and GB 700x30's for
"important" brevets (anything 600K or over, where faster tires may
make a significant difference in either sleep or in finishing on
time). The Pasela's are defini
The Schwalbe Marathon Supreme is built primarily for puncture
resistance and longevity, and is ideal for loaded touring. However,
it's probably way on the stiff end of the suppleness scale. I pump
'em up every couple of weeks to around 65-70, and when they feel a bit
softish they're down to 40.
Originally an upper middle class '70s 10 speed. I bought the frame to build
as a fixed gear errand beater, but the bike has suffered from upgrade-itis,
as you can tell.

For one thing, the Pasela tread is roughly twice as thick. That alone
has major consequences for wear, puncture resistance an

GB Cypres 30mm tires feel great. Light weight, supple and grippy. I have
some 32mm Paselas (actual width that came on my Quickbeam) that seem nothing
special compared to the Cypres 30s. The GB definitely feel better than the
32s IMHO. Also, they are MUCH better feeling than Ruffy Tuffies. They

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know, as I am somewhat familiar with
the Paselas: that the GBs is a quality, fast tire that would improve ride
quality and, one hopes, even my speed.
Does anyone else want to comment on the GBs?
My Motobecane beater is going to turn into one darn nice bike
patrick,
i have never tried paselas, but reading their description, it seems
that paselas are more of a tough, durable tire. the grand bois is
really a 28c version of a really supple racing tire. the two tires are
designed with different goals. the pasela is tougher, the grand bois
is lighter and ro

How do these compare with the Paselas? I'm mostly familiar with the 559X32

Yes, great service by Jan. He does take his off road.
I'd be interested in the warranty replacement rate vs. similar light

Well, love is a great thing, as it may help you overlook some faults...
