Yea, a lock is good. I'll bring at least one cable too. We won't be
far from the bikes at all, and we'll be able to see them the whole
time too. San Diego is safer than LA or SF, but it is a city! I
always bring a lock.

One thing about this show: there were no pure show bikes that were otherwise
useless. Everyone had fine machines that anyone could happily ride.

Note that Greenfield, who makes these rear triangle kickstands, has
them in two lengths: a 285 and 305mm. On taller frames with larger
wheels, the latter is imperative. Unfortunately they are VERY tough
to find: I finally emailed Greenfield and they sold me one directly.

My Bombadil (Orthie) is the darkest green the Rivendell painter has.
When I chose it, Keven gave me the color catalog and I chose. Then he
said the painter would match it, but it wouldn't necessarily be the

whether there is a better or best kickstand for a super heavy front

I ran a 9 speed Campy triple drive train with a Shimano 9 speed rear
hub for many years with no shifting problems.
My daughter still rides that drive train. Just find some NOS Campy
levers and you should be good to go. If not, then add a J-tek device.
