I go forward and backward on mirrors, but lately one is on the visor
of my helmet. And I duck to look behind constantly, too, but since I
started wearing progressive multifocal eyeglasses my head-sideways and
upside-down glances don't work as well as they used to, so the mirror
helps me. I used to think the drivers here were worse than other
places, but have come to the conclusion that drivers globally have
become less attentive, less polite, more aggressive, etc. and the
mirror alerts me often to bizarre moves, especially in urban riding,
and when wind is too loud or the vehicle is too far away and moving at
too high a speed to hear.

I might try the big German handlebar mirror someday if it works as
well as you say, but on a fully decorated bike, not a bike set up for
elegant glory. But I tend to break handlebar mirrors off eventually.
Accidentally.
