If you put it in your qmail-smtpd run file, it will scan every email
coming/going from the server.
That includes vpopmail.

Are you sure it's even caused by the user sending mail?
Keep in mind that spammers use tools to generate their email so that they
fake the headers to look like "bob" sent the email, when bob (and your
mail server) had nothing to do with it. However, once that email goes to
a bad address in the sp
I noticed a couple days ago that the received header isn't showing
accurate data.
I'm using McAfee command line scanner with QMS. The current DAT file is
4432. The one showing in the headers is the one that was present when QMS
was installed (4419). Anyone know why that number isn't updating? I kn
If you get this working, I'd be very interested in seeing a HOWTO for it.
This is something I've wanted to do for quite some time now.

I know this has been discussed here before, but after searching for a
couple hours in the mailing list archives and on google, I've not found
any good documentation on configuring a footer that gets appended to all
messages sent by the server.
I'm not doing any goofy long winded legal disclaimers
Not sure if you're still taking feature requests for QS 2.
One thing I'd like to see, as trivial as it is
Have one of the configure options be to add a "scanned for virus" footer
at the bottom of each email.
Just something that when other people are relying on you for their mail

I would guess that what he's talking about is that SUID is not a default.
For example, with Red Hat Linux 9, I had to install the perl-suidperl rpm
file in order for QS to work. Not a big deal, and certainly not the fault
of QS.

I'm not sure how you're running qmail.
On my installation, the QMAILQUEUE variable is called via the qmail-smtpd
run file.
You may want to try that instead of using the tcp.smtp.
Using this method, anything sent via smtp, inbound or out, is scanned.
And yes, I'm using vpopmail also.
Good luck.
Just for the record, I also use vpopmail, and as this person mentioned, I
set my variable via the qmail-smtpd/run file.
Works like a champ for me.

I see his point where this would be handy.
This would have to be my wishlist item for 2.0.
Maybe some way to identify that the attachment has been administratively
disallowed (as in, not a virus), but to allow the email through once it
has been stripped. Useful if you're blocking mpegs and mp3s
