Hi, I have attention problem. Often times I need to check mail but I
do not want to see all mail because I feel overwhelm. I just want to
see mail I expect potentially from a single person.
Suppose I expect important email from Jian. I currently do as follows:

Can I configure which message mutt selects when it opens a folder? I
would like it to highlight the first message, not the first new

I would like to have mutt open postponed when I first start mutt. Is
there a way to do this from the .muttrc? I suppose I could do that
"push R" trick, but I would prefer a .muttrc solution.
Kind regards,
Xu
I often press 'r', write my message, and then realize on compose map
that I should have done 'g' for group reply. Is there a way to switch
on compose map (other than doing manually editing)?
Kind regards,

Hi,
I am learning more about PGP encryption with mutt, and am following this guide:
http://dev.mutt.org/trac/wiki/MuttGuide/UseGPG
There is a part which discusses about "also encrypt the message using
the author's public key". This is very useful because now I can
decrypt the message that I send

Hello,
I am frequently using ~iMSGID to search for a message ID matching
MSGID. However, if MSG contains '$1' then that does not work. Funnily,
if it contains $abc then it is not a problem. I have tried escapes for
'$' but it is not working.

Hi,
It seems the default behavior of mutt when I press 's' for save is to
put the email address as the folder I want to save to. But I would
prefer to not have this behavior. I have looked for muttrc variables
but I only find the following:
save-hook
save-name
force-name
They do not seem to be

Whenever I delete a message, GMail still puts it in All mail. How can
I delete it permanently? Ideally I would like to be able to "archive"
some emails (e.g. put them in a folder called archive), and
"permanently delete" others.
Has anyone a suggestion?
Kind regards,
Xu

Dear all,
My goal is to get the message ID from a message I just sent. One way I
am thinking of doing this is copying a message to a temporary file
(via FCC) and then getting its message ID with a script. Is this
possible?
I would like to do this instead of setting "record" because I want to
use
