There isn't a list for linuxvideostudio, so I thought I'd post here rather than
emailing the developer(s) directly.
Anyhow, I just got mjpegtools & the zoran driver working with my buz. Hasn't blown up
yet; thanks for your hand-holding, Ronald!

Hi
A bit off topic, but could be useful. I have this old VHS tape with REALLY
bad sound on it. I gain boost with a bit of gain and lowpassfiltering but
still there is a kind of fluctuation I cannot get rid of.
Anybody with an advice ?
Thanks a lot

BINGO!
I did not know that.
Thank you very much.
BTW, you mentioned 1.8M as the avi file size. I somehow got the impression
(wrong, it seems), that lavrec 1.6.1

That's an editlist issue.

Thanks, I'll take care of putting them into CVS here.

Hm, ok, before I'm out of clues: could you use a "vanilla" kernel
(preferrably 2.4.21, since I've tested that extensively locally and at
work), with the CVS (branch ZORAN_V

Hi Ronald,
Thanks so much for fielding the issue. Here's what I came up with for

I guess that is was a that time not properly integrated.
Please try 1.6.1.90 it should work there.

Some things take more time.
I have attached a little patch. Now lav2wav will happly create "sound of

Are there any known problems in mplex (mjpegtools 1.6-1) concerning .ac3

After (re)multiplexing a requantized mpeg2 stream with it's
propietary (unchanged) .ac3 sound by using
"mplex -f 8 -o foo.mpg foo.m2v foo.ac3"
the resulting file would play just fine (video + sound) in mplayer/vlc
For information about SVCD streams and a SVCD subtitle muxer have a look

It is not complete but works 99% of the time, a good place to start.
An implementation in mplex would be appreciated since once I used it but

Hello,
I tried with the suggested settings (I don't have them at hand, but they
included passing through yuvdenoise -l 1, and adding -q 8 -K kvcd to
mpeg2enc's command line), and I still find that VCD at 2500vbr looks
better. Especially when there is a fast camera movement, things get
really messy

I saw a bug earlier that was not observed in the 2.6 kernel, so...
I suspect I'm missing something obvious here, but I think I covered all the bases...
I built the 2.6 kernel with modular zoran support

Maartin,
Your interest in dvgrab/ffmpeg as compared to mpeg2enc is similar to mine.
Comparing preprocessing tools (lavrec/dvgrab) in combination with
postprocessing tools (ffmpeg/mpeg2enc) may be too difficult to do as now it
seems all tools ultimately go thru a generic YUV phase and no input tool

For giggles, I updated the kernel modules--
/usr/lib/[asm, asm-i386, asm-generic, linux, etc...]
from 2.4.22 to 2.6.0-test6--just in case that was the problem.
No help; make of driver-zoran from cvs still yields
