On the contrary, I'd love to see Thunderbird rendered accessible on OS X. Using
virtualisation for daily tasks is silly and is making me uncomfortable. This,
of course, is the downside to voluntary accessibility.

I'm just not happy with VoiceOver's braille support for a variety of reasons
which I've restated many times on here. It's behind even the other graphical
screen readers.
But you don't have to take my word for it, just perform this simple test: turn
speech off. Can you manage with braille only?
This can be done, yes, but it's a bit tougher because the tool that Mavericks
supplies for creating media only itself runs on Mavericks, rather unhelpfully.
In summary, what you must do is restore the base system disk image,
BaseSystem.dmg, onto your freshly-formatted USB stick, and then copy ov
If you don't mind losing all your Time Machine history for now, simply reformat
your target disk using Disk Utility. Any problem with the disk will then be
solved and Time Machine should resume. Yes, it's inconvenient, but at least
you haven't lost any current data.

The FaceTime from the Mac App Store is for Snow Leopard users; don't buy it.
You need to be aware that FaceTime works a little differently from other apps
on the Mac, in that it's very iOS-like; you don't open or close dialogs.

To be honest, the best advice we can give you is to switch to iCloud. No, this
is not a joke, sadly.
You can fiddle with Gmail to make it work, but the Mavericks-Gmail combination
is not at all pleasant.

This was a well known issue with the early releases of Mavericks but I
believed that this had been fixed by Apple in a subsequent update to the
OS. Certainly I am having absolutely no issues with G mail in my latest

Could I ask both of you whether you have gone to the App
I, too, am having no issues with my gmail on my Mac. Even back in the first
version of Mavericks, I only had very minor issues with gmail and mail on my
mac.
I'm puzzled as to why it works well for some and not hardly at all for others.

Hi,
If I am not mistaken, I am running 10.9.4. Is that not the latest version. I
thought I heard there was a 10.9.5 coming out at some point. I will take a

Hi,
Couple of points here. Firstly, if you delete all the built in keystrokes, you
have to do a lot of finger contortions that you don't actually need to do,
given that the mac keystrokes are much easier to reach than the windows ones. I
would advise people to keep them, they can actually come

There's an easy way to do just that. The bad news is that the script command is
broken in Mavericks, and won't actually do anything when run. Perhaps Yosemite
will fix this, I don't know.
