From what I've read, long passwords are more secure than short cryptic
ones. So if the site will allow it, you're better off using a password

if someone gets their hands on an encrypted password file, each

I planned to connect an external drive, then superDuper the bootable clone
onto it. Using a firewire/thunderbolt connector, I could then boot from that
drive/bootable image.

Okay,
So, at last, I have decided to give Quick Nav more of a try on my Mac. I find,

quick Nav give me some tips how to most effectively move

Ah, I was beginning to think I might just have to do that. To speak frankly, I
think it's high time Apple made the Mac OS function more like the Iphone IOS.
One of the things I'd like to see Apple do away with is the concept of
interaction. Yeah, I know that sounds strange, but, once you've p

I connect my IPhone and activate the Apps radio button, JAWS goes completely

No, target node does not work with USB, it might work with lightning though.
Your next best alternative is too shutdown wireless on both systems and connect
with a standard ethernet cable. Apple computers do not require a hub for wired
connections.

Hi all,
Many thanks for your helpful responses.
Esther, thanks for the detail on navigating with the mouse - that was going to
be my next question.
I have a couple of follow up questions on your post if that's ok.
Firstly, if I have mouse keys enabled, are there any settings I need to change
Hello,
I couldn't disagree more. Its not the concept of interacting that's the
problem, its in certain applications one has to do it too often to get to basic
functions. streamlining these applications would do away with most of the
inconveniences interacting might have.
Keep in mind, and iP
Good points. I should like, however, to ask something. Wouldn't the move to
next and previous container areas be useful in the situation with ITunes you

view, this would make a better and more true across the board exp
Hi all,
I'm pretty new here, so excuse me if I'm doing this wrong. Let me know the
protocol.
Anyway, someone from Amazon's Kindle team contacted me today to see how the
braille display was working with the Kindle App that I'm using on the
iPhone and iPad. I've sent him some feedback, but you guys
I don't believe that interaction could be removed in OS X. You are comparing
two entirely different operating systems and situations. You have to
understand what exactly interacting does and how it works. iOS is a different
and much more streamlined interface compared to the complexity of
I think it is obvious that the interaction deal is one of the most difficult
things that somebody who moves from Windows to Mac needs to deal with. What is
frustrating is that it is not always clear when one needs to interact. Trial

Actually, although it takes some getting used to, I rather don't mind
the concept of interaction. It's most helpful in tool bars, where you
can access all of the buttons and other controls confined within that
particular area. I have yet to find a windows-based screen reader that

Using JAWS, pressing the letter "n" will jump over html items like
links etc and take you to the next occurrence of text. Is there any
similar shortcut command in safari with quick NAV or by any other
method?

Well, John, it's not that I don't understand what interaction does, I was just

Hi Ray,
I know what you mean. I wasn't criticizing you at all. My point is that
it's highly unlikely that interacting will be something that will disappear
from VoiceOver.
I don't know if this will apply to you, but in regard to Mary's post, when
working with clients, here are some elem

Hi John,
I think these are great tips. I’ve also come to realize many people I’ve
worked with interact too much. For example, some interact with the sources
table in iTunes to navigate through their playlists. This isn’t necessary.
With quick nav off, just using the up and down arrows will

While this is possibly straying off topic, I wonder if NVDA with its object nav
isn't rather similar to the interaction model with VO.

There are a few. For example holding control, option, and command and pressing
the letter H will jump by headings. Pressing L will do it by links. If you turn

Hi Ricardo,
Yes, very true on all points. Interaction is one of the more difficult

Hi,
As long as you have the Thunderbolt to Ethernet connector, you could simply use
Migration Assistant to migrate everything exactly as is from your older Mac to
the newer one. The Set-Up Assistant will guide you through this when you start

Hi Ed,
First, here's how to have VO announce what's under your mouse cursor. Open

then select the "Announcements" tab. Check the box for "Speak text under mouse
after delay", then interact with the slider and set the d

Hi Phil,
Have you tried VO +command+p?
