I just updated Adium to the latest build and the first thing I've
noticed is that the buttons in the tool bar are now labeled. If this
took place in a previous release and I didn't notice, I apologize for

much else so I figgured that i'd opt for a faster os with less
features since I wouldn't be using many of the features in leopard -
its a g4 1.42.

but am unable to do anythingwith it. I can't move it to another
folder, nor can I install it from the downloads folder. What do I

You can't delete the downloads folder, as it is a system standard.
Anything that's put there==by Mail or Safari or anything else that
downloads stuff from the net--follows the same behavioral laws as does
any other file or folder on your system. What do you mean by "work
with it?"
Drive replacement on the emac is dooable but apple don't want you to
do it. Opening it up is the easy part, but theres quite a lot of stuff
inside it which is in the way of the drive. Your probably not going to
break anything by having a look inside it so theres no harm in giving
it a go.

I did finally get it copied to the applications folder, but it shows

1. On the iMac, go to System Preferences and click on the Startup Disk
button.
2. Press the "Boot in Target mode" button.
3. The machine should restart.
4. Connect the iBook and iMac with a Firewire cable.

You can think of a disc image as a kind of external HD/.zip file. Inside the
.dmg file is the application with a .app extention. This is the file that
you need to coppy to your Applications folder. You can then return to the
dmg which will have appeared on your desktop and eject it.

Hi Donna,
DMG stands for Disk Image. When you download one, press command-O to
open it. Then if there's an application in it (it has an APP
extension) copy that file to the Apps folder. Then focus on the disk
image and eject it with Command-E.
