I hope you won't mind me jumping in here.
First of all, it isn't necessary to move the DMG file be fore opening  
it. When you open it, a new folder will be created or a new file in  
the current folder might be created. In either case do the following.  
If an application file has been presented, just copy it to the  
Applications Folder and Eject the DMG file with Command E. If an  
installation package is presented, just open the package and follow  
the installation prompts. Sometimes when a DMG has been opened you  
might find several items. For example, an installation package or  
application file. Along with these items you might find a Readme file  
or other files of interest. Perhaps, for example, a file like a manual  
in PDF form that can be read with Preview.
This is just it in a nutshell.
