No, I believe Ramy wants to selectively not have VO speaking when he is using
the iPod Shuffle to play music while on stage.

You are correct, the clips are generated on the machine you are
syncing with. So, if you are running Tiger and since Alex is not a
voice available to Tiger, you won't have that voice available. I don't
know what Apple can possibly do unless they choose to include Alex as
a voice for Tiger
