Hi Scott, Apart from the "If you're still new to VO" part of the message (hides smiles), Ryan's suggestion about using playlists is good. Actually, I believe that you can also transfer the tracks with copy and paste (since iTunes 8), if you copy songs from the songs table of a library or playlist and select the iPod device in the source table and then paste to the tracks onto the device. So both the context menu way of adding to a playlist and copy and paste (where you paste tracks onto the target playlist in the sources table) should work now as ways to add content to playlists.
The user's guide to the 3G Shuffle is here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf I would choose the method to sync selected playlists. I haven't seen the set up for one of the new shuffles, but I imagine that, like the Nano and other iPods, you can VO-Right Arrow from the sources table to get to the area with the summary information, and options to set how the iPod syncs. When the iPod device is selected in the sources table, can you navigate with VO-Right arrow to an area with Summary tab, Music tab, etc? You should be able to select playlists by choosing the Music tab (VO-Space), then check a box to sync selected playlists, and find the playlists in a table. Again, if this is like the Nano, the table will be a scrolling table. If you have a lot of playlists you may have to periodically start scrolling (VO-Shift-S), arrow down 7 or 8 times, stop scrolling (escape), since checking the boxes besides the playlists is only easily done for entries in the visible scrolling window. HTH. How do you find the controls, if you tested this in the store? I tried this out at an Apple Store, since the control feature is like the one for the Nano headset that allows voice recording.
