I am trying to prepar comp. sci. lectures using lyx 1.2.1. I started by
using foiltex simply because lyx seems to support it. However I can't
work out how to do some simple things.
1) How can I use the algo package to typeset algorithms in my slides? I
downloaded the algo 0.3 tar ball and i

Insert->Floats>Algorithm but there are no docs and I have no idea how it
works. I also have no idea if this is supposed to work in any of the

At work I do not have root access and don't have xforms or the right
glib version installed it seems (the computer is running 2.2.17 and some
old slackware distro it seems). Is there a stand-alone (non-rpm) lyx
binary I could download to run at work?

What's the best way to convert a lyx document to html. I have tried
exporting to latex and then using latex2html but the result was a mess.

Things are going pretty well now. Here are some remaining problems.
1) view->postscript is oddly broken. If I export to latex and dvips and
gv the file everything is great. However view->postscript shows the
following effects.
a)You have to view the file in seascape instead of landscape to get it
The problem with view->postscript clipping the image has been traced to
dvips using the "-t a4" option. This appears the break the postscript.
Here is a diff between the correct postscript file and the one made by
lyx with export->postscript.

As far as I can tell pdflatex can not directly handle included
postscript files. If you don't realise this in lyx 1.3.2. and attempt
to view->pdf (pdflatex) you get a whole selection of rather odd errors
in strange places. Would it be possible for lyx to simply say "pdflatex

It's basically a normal table except that some of the entries are
horizontal bars that start and end to indicate when that piece of the
project will begin and end.

following very odd error.
When I include a postscript file called approx-pic.ps gv gives a
postscript error when I View->Postscript. However, if I change the name

OK thanks. What about the bibliography? It wants a slide title but
then puts the word "References" in anyway? I just want it on a
separate slide with "References" as the title of the slide preferably.

Incidentally, does
$ gs approx-pic.eps
work?
Both gs and gv approx-pic.eps work fine which makes the division by zero
error even more mysterious,
