No. it just tells LyX what to do with given whatever.pdf4 files. You could
define a pdf->pdf4 converter, although I think this is rather si

This just tripped me up again...
I couldn't remember my keyboard shortcut for adding an ERT insert and
had to scan up and down the Insert menu several times until I realized
that what I was looking for ("ERT") was listed as "TeX".
Why not be consistent? If it's "TeX" in the menu then the label

Hi
I am trying to make a line on a page that is as long as the actual text in the
paragraph, not the width of the text on the page. This may sound confusing but
it should look like this
MY NAME
UNIVERSITY ADDRESS
DATE

Rather than a line that goes across the whole page.

Hi all,
(Perhaps this is already fixed in the newer version?)
After getting an error report when trying to generate a dvi file, then
fixing the error and deleting the error message I again select "view
DVI". This then generates "250 errors found" at which point I have to
close and re-open the
Hi all,
I have a list that consists of keywords and explanations. I used a
paragraph environment called "Labeling" to do this. My problem is that
one keyword is so long that it runs beyond where the body text of all
other keywords start.
I looked at the User guide and found no mention of "Labe

$ rpm -qa "tetex*"

Ok I have been struggling with this all day and it
seems to me there must be an obvious solution.
The layout I would like is as follows:
A name and address above each other right aligned -
this bit is easy as I can just align the paragraph.

Hi, this is from a happy user of 1.3.6 on win 2000. Nevertheless, one
little quirk I want to ask about:
I get different results from the same lyx-file when 1) opening it via
file-open dialog, and 2) double-clicking it to be automatically opened.
In case 1, everything is perfect.
In case 2, the ti

Sorry to have been unclear, and come off like a megalomaniac in the
process. I didn't mean to imply that my way should be the default
for everyone. Rather, I thought it might be convenient to be able to
change the default settings for such things via Preferences.
