Before I answer that question I would like to comment on your
advice to change the Path statement in the preference file rather
than run a reconfigure. Since the location of the preference file
is somewhat out of the way, I usually Search for it, starting
from C:\documents and settings. Then double-click on it to
invoke a text editor. I have to set my Windows search tool
on display "hidden files and folders" or Search won't report
finding the preference file that needs editing. A small thing but
this really aggravated somebody who didn't know about it.
What can I say?
There is nothing in my remark that implies the location answer
is not provided in the Wiki. People might search the mailing list
archives before the Wiki. I didn't think this tip or reminder was
important enough for the Wiki so I put it into the mailing list.
It is a thing (hidden files) that many Windows users don't know.

OK, so this is unix-centric in that it talks about your "home"
directory, but I don't think we've done too bad a job of writing
enough docs to get you started.

I provided the tip because a Windows user already complained
about not being able to "find" the file and using the Search engine.
It is also more efficient than navigating to the file in order to edit it.
Search, double-click on file, and it opens with the default editor.
That is a typical Windows approach. Hidden files needs to be
enabled. To me it was a useful alternative addendum to your post,
made because I very qualified in evaluating Windows user's skills.
To me, it a far stretch for you to think this is a criticism of the docs
or that you need to defend them because of my post. It made me
think you were drinking and I have no patience with alcoholics.
Do you think I am wearing my feelings on my cuff or jumping to
conclusions? This is the second such post of yours that went off
on a tangent. Does my post remind you of what I mean? You like it?
Feel free to ignore my future posts,
