Just some thoughts, and without any promises...
0.88 is an old release, try to upgrade to 0.89. If Redhat have a seperate
0.89-d
I have a RH7.2 linux system.
I tried to install the lyx-1.2.0-1.i386.rpm.
I got the following error.
error: failed dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 is needed by lyx-1.2.0-1
I tried to install libstdc++...rpm from another source,
but it failed because i had a newer verison install

Kayvan,
Yup, that did the trick. I now have lyx-1.2.0 successfully rebuilt from
the src.rpm. For those who might need to go through the same exercise, I'll
describe what

egcs-1.1.2 or egcs-2.91.66 are both broken. You *will* crash this
compiler when attempting to

The latest version from the Redhat 6.2 update channel (provided by
red-carpet updater). Not sure exactly what the number is until I get
home from work. However, others have reported th

Hi Kayvan,
I (and others on the lyx-users list) have had problems installing the
lyx-1.2.0 rpms on redhat 6.2 because it is missing the library file:
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3.
My system has the libstdc++-2.9.0-30 rpm installed (the latest that
rpmfind found) which provides libstdc++-libc6.1-1
Ok, I had a look at the libraries:
The one from daniel with the library that works has the comment (which
is identical to RH 7.0):
The libstdc++ package contains a snapshot of the GCC Standard C++
Library v3, an ongoing project to implement the ISO 14882 Standard C++
library.

Perhaps Kayvan will be gracious enough to put a working .rh6-2.rpm on th

Indeed... I think he must be using a non-standard 6.2 install.
Can we maybe get in contact with hi
Tim and Richard,
there is a remark in Kayvan readme that notes he uses RedHat
Linux/GNU 6.2.
Then, did he really use the same compiler, i.e.egcs release
1.1.2? What compiler
are you using Tim?

No I haven't, and not sure why it would work.
The problem is not that the library file isn't registered with rpm, but
simply that it doesn't exist on my system.

No, I hadn't thought of that. I suppose there might have been little
enough changed between the -1 and -2 versions for it to work. Will try
it this evening when I
