When I need to send large files (for whatever reason), I use YouSendIt

Thanks both Georg and Lars for the speedy response (especially when compared
to my laggardly thanks). A corollary to this question, the need for which,

In Latex and so inside ERT (which AFAI can tell is what we're still talking
about), a ~ means a non-breaking space (and shows up as such when used
inside ERT in LyX), to be used between
Hey list,
I'm a non-programmer (well, I dabble in Python occasionally, but not enough
to be useful). Despite this, I want to see the release of LyX 1.4.0 as much

The crux of this message is this:

Sorry to reply to my own message, but is there a way of just running a LyX

get LyX operational faster.

Hi list,
More ebuild stuff (though, having discovered the lack of an ebuild for the
most recent stable LyX version, I've switched from 1.4.0pre5 to 1.3.7).
When I first install LyX, Edit > Preferences > File Formats has no entries

Hi list,
Another query relating to my ebuild work. The creator of the last ebuild
(for 1.4.0pre3) has set Qt up as a compile-time dependency only but has
left a note saying he is unsure if this is accurate. Does LyX 1.4.0pre5
(and we're assuming Qt is being used) need Qt to run or only to compile?
I've seen mention of a 1.4.0pre5 in this group and was wondering if the
1.4.0pre3 version mentioned on the LyX website is still the most recent
snapshot release. I ask this because 1.4.0pre3 is the latest LyX release
with a Gentoo ebuild and I would like to update this (if, indeed, it needs
